Thank you: Kroger at Shelter Cove

THE ISLAND PACKET

As the school year winds down Iā€™d be remiss if I did not publicly thank Christopher Curl, the general manager of Kroger at Shelter Cove and his produce staff for all they have done for the past eight months to help Backpack Buddies provide fresh fruit to 250 elementary students on the weekends.

Backpack Buddies strives to fight weekend hunger. Children at partner schools who experience hunger and who qualify for the program receive a backpack each Friday containing nutritious food to eat on the weekends when they are unable to access school feeding programs.

Fresh fruit is an important part of this program and the most difficult aspect of the program to manage. Chris and his staff have gone out of their way to see that our children received the freshest of fruit, that our volunteers were treated with utmost respect and that the billing and payment process was easy for everyone.
