2016 farmers markets spring up across the Lowcountry

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — We may have to wait a little while for warm temperatures, but you won't have to wait for a chance to nosh on fresh, local veggies!

Farmers markets all over the Lowcountry are gearing up for business and we've compiled a list of opening dates for the market near you.

The Sunday Brunch Farmers Market on James Island located at 1977 Maybank Highway behind the Pour House started their season last month. They're open every Sunday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Click here for their website to see more information about vendors and musical acts.

The Mount Pleasant market sets up shop every Tuesday at Market Pavilion on Coleman Boulevard at Moultrie Middle School from 3:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Their first day is Tuesday, April 5. The farmers market that used to be held at Towne Center is not happening this year.

The big farmers market in Charleston's Marion Square is opening April 9, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Live music from The Bluestone Ramblers is planned as well as the Lowcountry Local First Plow to Chow.

Summerville's market also starts up April 9 at 200 S. Main Street in the First Citizens Parking Lot. They're open from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Free parking is available for shoppers in the Town Hall parking garage.

Goose Creek holds their farmer market at 150 Howe Hall Rd. and will open Saturday, April 16. They will be in the "in the garage door in the blue building" from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The Farmers' Market at the Green Barn at Carnes Crossroads, located at 207 Parish Farms Drive, will take place Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. beginning on May 4 and continuing through the end of September.

North Charleston will be starting their market in May this year. Opening day is May 5 at the Felix C Davis Community Center at 4800 Park Circle. They run from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m. every Thursday.

Colleton's Farmers Market's opening day is May 7. It's held on Tuesdays from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 506 E. Washington St. in Walterboro.

Freshfields Village's market sits at the crossroads of Kiawah, Seabrook, and Johns Island. They start up in June and run every Monday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Hilton Head's Shelter Cove Market is located at Shelter Cove Community Park. Their first Community Market will be every Tuesday starting June 14 and will run from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. It's followed by Summer Jams which ends with a fireworks show at 9 p.m.

The Moncks Corner's farmers market is open year round. They're located at Gulledge and Heatly streets every Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. and even run sometimes during the week.

Georgetown's Farmers Market is located at 122 Screven St. on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The start date hasn't been announced yet but last year they started in mid-May.
