The Lowcountry holiday tradition dubbed "the most tastefully tacky display in the South" began Dec. 1 with a public lighting ceremony at Shelter Cove Towne Centre on Hilton Head. Dove Street boasts 75,000 lights, a 30-foot Christmas tree and even (faux) snow. Since its inception in 1990, the Festival has raised more than $110,000 for local non-profits. Beginning this year, donations can be made through sheltercovetownecentre.com.
