The return of Hilton Head's Dove Street Festival of Lights was a big hit last year, raising thousands of dollars for area charities.

The lights are now all gone and Christmas has come to an end, but according to the Shelter Cove Towne Centre, the 2014 Dove Street Festival of Lights raised more than $11,000 for the Deep Well Project and Projects for Exceptional People, also known as PEP.

The Deep Well Project helps low income families, while PEP helps residents with developmental disabilities.

The Festival of Lights started 20 years ago. It had stopped about four years ago, but in 2014 it made a comeback at the new Shelter Cove Towne Center where it was relocated.

Shelter Cove Towne Center says this year's Festival of Lights was a hit and they are already ready preparing for next year's.
